PSHCE
The aim of our Personal development curriculum is to develop healthy, happy children who are aware of: how to look after themselves, show respect for others, positively engage in wider society and thrive as individuals.
We will do so by delivering a curriculum & ethos that:
- Raises the profile of the British Values and embeds them into our pupils understanding of what it means to be a British Citizen
- Develop our pupils holistically and allow them to build their positive character traits during their school career
- Is progressive and focuses on the key areas of ; Safety. Health, Relationships, Responsibilities, All about me and Enterprise
- Develop a toolkit of strategies to promote good mental wellbeing starting in Nursery and continuing throughout school
- Exposes children to topic specific vocabulary that will expand their knowledge and build progressively on their knowledge each year
- Is agreed and approved by parents (where appropriate) in the community to ensure there is external support of the curriculum we deliver
- Enables children to have the tools to stay safe both on and offline
- Promotes healthy relationships and provides information to support pupils in identifying such relationships and what to do if not
- Supports both the physical and mental wellbeing of our pupils to allow them to thrive
- Develops their skills in managing their own self-image, self-esteem and mental wellbeing
- Identifies bullying and discriminatory behaviour and gives pupils the tools to prevent this from happening
- Promotes pupil leaderships and action based on identified priorities by the pupils and staff
- Extends beyond the academic, vocational or technical and provides for pupils’ broader development. The school’s work to enhance pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is of a high quality.
- Provides high quality pastoral support to both children and families
- Promotes active citizenship
- Promotes active movement and playtimes within school
