Phonics and Reading

Reading

At Deeplish Primary Academy, all staff recognise the importance of reading, whether it be reading for pleasure or to enable children to fully access all aspects of the curriculum.

The curriculum offer is driven by high quality texts. See our curriculum page to see what texts we use.

Accelerated Reader

At Deeplish, one of the ways we ensure that children read the correct level of book, is through the Accelerated Reader programme. This also encourages the children to read frequently, to develop their love of reading.

The counter below shows how many books and words the children have read in a month.
