Explorers

We provide a curriculum that is bespoke to our school community and is inspiring, language rich, develops children’s skills and knowledge and is concept driven.  If children struggle to engage in our core curriculum offer, they work on our Explorer Curriculum (based on practice at Outstanding Special School Cherry Garden) consisting of communication development, physical development, cognitive development and personal, social and emotional development. Our explorer curriculum has been adapted to meet the needs of our learners with the most complex needs who require highly tailored specialist provision.  these children will be working at the Engagement model or Cherry Garden Brach maps, branches 1-4 (below Pre-Key Stage). It is aimed at developing attention, independence and relational skills. This aims to ensure that our children are school and work ready and prepared to make a positive and fulfilling contribution to a 21st century world. We base children’s individualised curriculum and goals around the outcomes in their EHCP to ensure that learning is relevant and personalised.
