Science
The intent of the Science curriculum is that our pupils will have a deep understanding of how to work scientifically to support their acquisition of knowledge of the world.
We will deliver a curriculum that:
- Develops substantive scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry, physics and earth science.
- Organises component parts that are sequenced so that pupils build schemata over time.
- Develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them and establish disciplinary scientific knowledge.
- Equips children with the scientific skills required to understand how science explains the material world and how scientific enquiry establishes scientific knowledge.
- Develop disciplinary knowledge through substantive practice.
- Has an enquiry-based focus, so that the knowledge can be developed through this
- Prioritises vocabulary rich content linked to the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics and earth science
