Music
The intent of the music curriculum is that our pupils will have a deep understanding of music teaching in Deeplish Academy.
We intend to provide a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum ensuring the progressive development of musical concepts, knowledge and skills.
We will deliver a curriculum that:
- Enables pupils to develop their skills, appreciate a wide variety of music and begin to appraise a range of musical genres alongside developing the pupils’ range and use of technical vocabulary.
- It provides children with the opportunity to consolidate previous learning, both within their year group and within other year groups through the explicit teaching of vocabulary from KS1-KS2.
- Our music curriculum provides children with rich and stimulating hooks to engage them with their learning.
- Provides a series of progressive skills and knowledge linked to the N.C. in music, which is mapped across year groups.
- Exposes children to topic specific (level 3) words, which allow children to assimilate as much subject knowledge as possible.
- Foster in children an interest in the creative subjects such as music.
- Provides children with a wide range of music genres to appraise and critique.
