PE

The aim of our PE curriculum is to develop healthy, happy children who are active, problem solvers, collaborators and model perseverance through physical activity and sport.

We will do so by delivering a curriculum that:

  • Progressively develops skills in different disciplines including; fundamental movement skills, attacking and defending, ball skills, invasion games, gymnastics and dance
  • Allows children to apply children to demonstrate the fundamental skills of the above disciplines in specific sports as they move through KS2
  • Develops pupils' knowledge of rules, strategies and tactics to support their engagement in sport
  • Encouraged physical activity as a core element to a healthy lifestyle
  • Provides opportunity for active lessons that have a clear objective and breaks down skills into manageable units
  • A pedagogical approach in line with our teaching and learning model where scaffolds are planned out and reduced to lead to independent practise
  • Allows for an ethos of teamwork and collaboration across peer groups to promote development of all
  • Develops pupil communication through team based exercises and encourages pupils to analyse and improve performance as a supportive collective
  • Promotes the learning behaviours of perseverance and resilience through repeated practise and opportunities to work towards goals
  • Challenges pupils in a supportive environment promoting their problem solving and perseverance
  • Is adapted and accessible to all.
