Mission Statement

Growing Great Learners

Our vision is to Grow Great Learners. In order to do so the quality of teaching is a high priority at Deeplish. We strive to make sure that all teaching is at least ‘good’ and to move the good teaching to ‘outstanding’.

Below are a series of non-negotiables for teaching and learning at Deeplish.

  • Create a positive climate for learning
  • The children should be working harder than the teacher
  • Teacher talk should be kept to a minimum
  • Active learning
  • Talk for learning strategies
  • Everything ready before lessons start
  • Clear differentiation
  • Pace in learning
  • All adults actively involved in the lesson – teaching a group – either in the class or in a pod
  • Clear modelling by adults
  • Worksheets only when applicable
  • One lesson objective – differentiation comes from task, or outcome or scaffolding
  • Practical resources used to support learning e.g. Numicon
  • No slippage of time – transition between groups
  • Not limiting children – fluidity of groups
  • Only setting in Y6
